Children & Families

Kids are a big deal at DMGC

Our desire is to reach children for Jesus Christ through quality teaching and fun activities intended to build a solid spiritual foundation in the heart of each child.

We will love your children - sharing the Gospel and discipling them toward spiritual maturity. We partner with parents, encouraging every family to make a whole life commitment to our Savior, Jesus Christ.

For additional information about Children's Ministries, please contact our Youth Ministries Coordinator Matt Kieswether at mattk@dmgc.org or the Chapel Office at 206-878-2145.

Sunday Mornings

Nursery

10:00 AM for ages 0-Preschool years:
The Nursery at DMGC provides a loving and secure environment for our babies and toddlers through preschool.  Parents can drop off their little ones in our bright and modern nursery wing on the lower level and attend the service with peace of mind knowing that their young ones are well cared for.  All nursery helpers attend DMGC, are carefully screened and have background checks.

Sunday School

During the 10:00 AM Sunday Service:
The elementary school years are a time when children begin to make their faith their own.  Students meet in the Sunday school auditorium to worship and praise the Lord together through music and then study God's Word in small groups.  Our wonderful leaders teach the Bible, the importance of prayer, God's love and how to apply biblical principles to their lives.  Children are encouraged to bring their Bibles to class every Sunday.  We will share with your children the Lord's desire to have a personal relationship with them.

Midweek Activities During the School Year

KidREACH: Tuesdays, 5:30-7:00 PM

KidREACH is a World Vision partner program; an After School Academic Mentoring Program for children desiring tutoring help with school work during the school year.  Currently we are working with children from Des Moines Elementary School.  Dinner is served for the students and their families at 6:30 PM.  Applications are available through the church office or Des Moines Elementary School. This is strictly an academic program.

MOPS Kids Program:

The MOPS Kids program runs simultaneously with our MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) program on the first Monday evening of each month during the school year.  For more information about MOPS and MOPS Kids, please click here

Dedication of Children

Child dedication is intended to be a significant commitment on the part of the parents who want, with God's grace, to live Godly lives and raise children "in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."  Child dedication does not make anyone a Christian.  We are saved by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ.  Parents desiring to dedicate their children should contact Pastoral Team member, Mac Sauerlender, at either mac@dmgc.org or 206-878-2145.

Looking for an outstanding overnight camp experience for your child?

Looking for a winter weekend retreat or week-long youth summer camp that is packed with fun, but centered around Christ?   Lakeside Bible Camp is just the ticket.

Super Summer Camps and Winter Retreats:

DMGC co-owns and operates one of the finest summer camps in the Northwest.  Lakeside Bible Camp is located on the south end of Whidbey Island on the shores of beautiful Deer Lake.  Its 50 acres contain quiet woods, sport facilities, camp sites, swimming dock, fishing, water skiing, and boating.  Weekly camps are offered for children and families throughout the summer where there is an opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ.  Brochures are available in the Chapel Office.

Seasonal Activities

Day Camp:  Last week of July or first week in August, 9:00 AM-3:30 PM

Anyone who has ever attended Day Camp will tell you that it is amazing!  Each year there is a fun and unique theme.  This summer your child will be welcome to join us for another excellent week of fun games, super crafts and skills, sing-along songs, outstanding outings and great Bible talks.  Day Camp is beloved by all who have attended over the years, and many who were once Day Campers come back as Troop leaders and Directors because Day Camp is simply the best!

To be eligible for Day Camp, your child must be in grades 1-6 during the 2019-2020 school year.  Children are accepted regardless of race, creed, color or national origin.  Many activities will be divided into junior and senior age groups to facilitate learning and interest.  Fill out the Day Camp Registration Form.
